Amerplast is bringing a new revolutionary technology for fresh food and product packaging.
Amerplast is bringing a new revolutionary technology for fresh food and product packaging. Technology patented by Perfotec where a specialized equipment measures first the respiration rates of fresh produce like fresh cut salads, fruits and vegetables and then the Laser Perforation System uses the information of measurments to adapt the film permeablility through precise micro perforation. The Laser Perforation System was installed to Amerplast’s Tampere factory in mid-April 2015.
The laser perforation will offer packaging that advances fresh produce shelf life drastically, thereby reducing waste and cost. The first packaging applications in the Nordic countries made with this new technology have been available for consumers since the beginning of May in Norway.
“The interest towards this technology has been remarkable within our current customers. The packaging offers so much extension in shelf life and it advantages consumers and the retailers. Micro-perforation is also a sustainable choice, as it reduces waste. We at Amerplast are very excited and we believe strongly that this technology will break down to all grocery chains in the Nordic area in the next few years”, says Borge Kvamme, CEO of Amerplast.
Amerplast will market PerfoTec’s unique technology and equipment as an integrated system along with its high performing flexible packaging film exclusively in the Nordic area and in Russia. With a heritage in high performance fresh produce packaging, Amerplast offers a high level of expertise in the fresh produce packaging.
