(Tampere February 19th 2018) Amerplast has re-formed and strengthened its organization to support the development of overall operational excellence, a first-class supply chain and further improved customer service. As of February 19th 2018 Mike Hawthorne has been appointed as the CEO of Amerplast. Mike has a strong background in both printing and the consumer packaged goods industry


Mike Hawthorne started his career as a printing engineer at Xerox in the UK, USA and France working on a several projects in their quality/excellence journey in the 1990s. Follow business school, Mike moved into consulting, specialising in Supply Chain & Procurement and then in corporate turnaround and transformations. Almost all of his 30+ major clients over 15+ years were in process manufacturing and many of his clients were in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, notably Food & Hygiene. He has also led the transformations of a major printing company in East Europe and a cartonboard packaging company in the UK. He is passionate about simplifying complexity and Operational Excellence and believes that the only worthwhile business activities are those valued by customers.

Børge Kvamme, the former CEO of Amerplast, will move on outside of the company. We wish to thank Børge for his significant contribution to developing the company as a CEO and as a board member.


The re-formed organization


As of February 19th 2018 Production Director Tuomo Riihimäki has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer (COO), HR Manager Anu Lapiolahti has been appointed as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Group Sales & R&D Director Ari-Pekka Pietilä has been appointed as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Together with Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Iska Nirviö they will report to CEO Mike Hawthorne and form the Amerplast Leadership Team.

The re-formed organization structure will enable Amerplast to achieve its targets for operational excellence, first-class supply chain management and further improved service levels to contribute to the success of our customers. Amerplast will continue to build on leadership positions in Bakery, Tissue & Personal Care and Retail segments with continued focus on growth in Food segment. The company leverages experience and expertise with high ambition, innovation and operational excellence. Amerplast is taking the leading position in the transition of flexible packaging industry into an environmentally sound business.
